Ramalingam Subramanian

First line of code at nine. Still a builder.

Ramalingam Subramanian

I started as a systems engineer at TCS, which is a useful place to begin if you later want to understand why organisations fail to ship. Then an MBA at JBIMS, and Cipla, where I owned a P&L instead of advising on one.

From there: a brand firm and a marketplace of my own, the scale-up years at CoinDCX, and the operating seat at Tap Invest, Cox & Kings and KoinBX. Fifteen years across crypto, fintech, travel and consumer brands.

One belief ties it together. Rising incomes around the world need better ways to preserve and grow wealth, and the next hundred million investors will be won by understanding. I speak and write about it, I’m finishing a book on marketing in the age of AI, and I invest in founders building for that investor.

Where I learned that systems fail at the handoffs. B.Tech IT, Velammal Engineering College, before that.

What fifteen years taught me.

The brief is rarely the problem. The constraint usually sits one layer down: comprehension, ownership, a handoff nobody owns.

Every decision needs a name. Who owns it, who needs to know, what happens when the owner leaves.

Recognition buys one look. What sits behind the name decides whether you get a second.

Stories should include the cost. Including the ventures that didn’t work.
